Last year, Apple acknowledged a speaker issue with some AirPods Pro and launched a dedicated program. Within its framework, users could replace defective headphones for free. The reason for the replacement are noticeable clicks and crackles, as well as incorrect operation of the active noise reduction system.
Immediately after the launch of the program, Apple representatives stated that it would apply to all AirPods Pro and give users the opportunity to replace problem headphones for free within two years from the date of purchase. In other words, early AirPods Pro customers who purchased the headset immediately after its release in 2019 could replace crackling headphones for free until October 2021.
Apple recently extended the time frame. Now the headset can be changed within three years from the date of purchase. At the same time, on the official Apple website it is indicated that AirPods Pro, which were released before October 2020, fall under the program. Apparently, in the future, Apple made some changes to the design of the headphones.
To replace a problematic headset, users need to contact an authorized service center and wait for the specialists to check the device. If the defect is confirmed, they will receive a new earphone free of charge. In this case, the case cannot be replaced.
