Apple may embed Touch ID in a branded remote control

Judging by one of the latest patents that Apple received, the company is considering integrating a fingerprint scanner into the remote control. With this device, users will be able to control the TV, remotely close and open doors, interact with household appliances, exercise equipment, climate systems, etc.

The company’s engineers offer to equip the remote control with one or two biometric sensors. With their help, users will be able to confirm purchases, access different services faster, and also manage some secure HomeKit devices.

In addition, an analogue of parental control may also appear in the remote control. With this feature, users will be able to determine the range of opportunities available to individuals. For example, prevent children from confirming purchases or turning on certain appliances using a new remote control.
