Apple won’t buy OLED displays for iPad Air 2022 from Samsung

According to The Elec, Apple has no plans to use Samsung’s OLED displays in the next generation iPad Air. It is reported that a joint project to create screens for apple tablets has been suspended.

Sources cite Apple’s desire for brighter, more durable OLED panels as one reason. The company proposes to use a new technology in the screens, which will extend the life of the display up to four times.

However, Samsung doubts that investments in a new type of screens with a double stack of LEDs will bring tangible profits. Now the Korean giant has already established the production of single-stack OLED matrices, and so far the company is not willing or able to invest in new production.
