Bug in iOS 15 can lead to the deletion of saved photos

Recently, iPhone and iPad owners who updated their devices to iOS 15 discovered a nasty bug. It is associated with the Messages app. Users note that under certain conditions, you can lose images and photos that have been saved from dialogs. Now the problem is being actively discussed on Twitter and on Reddit.

According to available data, the saved pictures will be lost if the user first saves the image from the correspondence, and then deletes the dialogue completely. For a while, the picture will be in the gallery. However, immediately after the iCloud backup is done, the image will disappear.

The danger of the new bug lies in the fact that for many users the iCloud backup function is always on and new copies are created every time the device is connected to a power source and an active Wi-Fi connection. In this case, there is a risk of losing important data.

At the moment, there are only two ways to deal with the problem – either refuse to backup to iCloud, or not delete dialogs in Messages. It is noteworthy that the upcoming iOS 15 update does not affect the situation in any way. In iOS 15.1 Beta 2, the bug is still present. However, it is possible that the bug will be fixed by the final version.
