Concept: iPhone Flip with folding screen and over-the-air charging

A short video has appeared on the ConceptsiPhone YouTube channel, in which you can see what Apple’s first foldable smartphone might look like. As conceived by the designers, outwardly the iPhone Flip will resemble the Galaxy Flip 3. Simply put, the smartphone will not fold along a vertical, but along a horizontal fold. This feature can significantly reduce the size of the device.

As for the filling, the iPhone Flip should receive a ProMotion XDR display with a frequency of up to 120 Hz, an Apple M1 processor and a Touch ID sub-screen scanner. However, the main feature of the device will be a completely new wireless charging called AirCharge. The latter will allow you to charge your smartphone literally through the air – for charging, users will not need to place a mobile device on a special platform. The process of filling the battery should take place at a distance.

It is worth noting that the idea of such a charge did not appear just like that. There is a document in Apple’s patent portfolio that describes a similar idea in sufficient detail. As conceived by the authors of the patent, charging can be carried out at a distance of up to several meters from the “source” of power.

In addition to fully wireless charging, Apple is also actively working on foldable devices. However, such smartphones will not be released soon. It is expected that the announcement will happen in the next couple of years. True, the opposite opinion can be found on the network. Some analysts believe that Apple will first test the foldable device technology on tablets, and then, if successful, introduce it to the iPhone.
