Over the past years, iFixit experts have been saying that different models of AirPods cannot be repaired. The headphones are almost impossible to disassemble without damaging the case and internal components. This feature does not allow us to consider in detail how exactly the insides of AirPods are located. But this does not mean that this problem cannot be solved.
Recently, curious users took a close look at the design of the first generation AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods 3 using a CT scanner. Thanks to these images, it became clear how much the layout of the internal elements differs in different generations of Apple headphones.
If in the first AirPods most of the leg was occupied by the battery, then in newer models its dimensions have slightly decreased. At the same time, in AirPods Pro and AirPods 3, other components began to take up more space. Despite the small size of the headphones, there is practically no free space in them – it is occupied by boards, circuits and sound emitters.
It is expected that in AirPods Pro 2, Apple will completely abandon the proprietary “legs”. This will further reduce the interior space. However, if rumors are to be believed, the miniaturization of the headset will not affect its functionality in any way. Moreover, the second generation AirPods Pro should receive a number of sensors to track physical indicators. The new AirPods Pro are expected to be introduced in the second half of next year.
