At CES 2022, Nanoleaf announced plans to release new firmware for its lightbars. The update, which should be released in the first quarter of 2022, will significantly expand the capabilities of devices. In particular, Nanoleaf products will be able to act as border routers in the Thread network.
After installing the update, Nanoleaf Shapes, Nanoleaf Lines and Nanoleaf Elements panels will be able to act as connecting elements between Nanoleaf Essentials Bulb and Lightstrip, Apple TV 4K, Eve products and various remote controls, such as the Wemo Stage.
Thus, Nanoleaf will become the only third-party company that will release devices capable of acting as border routers on the Thread network. Currently, only HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K have this feature.
The exact release date for the update is currently unknown.
