Nova Poshta is trying to deliver parcels using drones

The well-known Ukrainian delivery service Nova Poshta is trying to deliver parcels in a new way – using unmanned aerial vehicles. And we are talking about full-fledged delivery between cities. For this, the company decided to use the Discovery UAV, created by Aerodron.

Many delivery services are planning to use drones to deliver packages or move goods within the same city. However, Novaya Pochta decided to use UAVs to transport small cargo between cities. As part of the test flight, the drone flew about 480 kilometers and delivered parcels from Kyiv to Kharkov. The flight took about 5 hours. After a successful landing and testing of all systems, the UAV set off on a return “flight” from Kharkov to Kyiv.

According to company representatives, the aircraft follows a special route. His actions are monitored by an operator who can take control into his own hands. Also, the UAV is equipped with a special parachute. It will help the drone to land safely in case of critical malfunctions.

In the near future, “Nova Poshta” plans to conduct another test flight. Already in August, the UAV will depart from Kyiv to Lviv. The company plans to increase the speed of cargo delivery. One drone will be able to transport about 250 kg of cargo by air. If the tests are successfully completed, the drone mail delivery service will become available to consumers next year.
