Rumor: New AirPods Pro 2 will get speakers in a case

Just recently, Apple released the new third-generation AirPods, as rumors about the second-generation AirPods Pro have already begun to leak. According to Mark Gurman and an unverified Xerxes source, the upcoming premium headset could get interesting features.

New in AirPods Pro 2:

  • Skin detection sensor (proximity). AirPods 3 no longer use optical sensors, they have been replaced with a skin detection sensor, which is more accurate. The same may appear in AirPods Pro 2;
  • Speakers in charging case. Sources say that in iOS 16, Apple will add the ability to track a case using audio in the Find My app;
  • Lanyard slots. Perhaps Apple is preparing new headphone accessories. These can be straps for comfortable wearing of the headset during sports.

Rumors are controversial. According to them, future premium headphones will hardly change in appearance and will continue to use the stem design. Interestingly, Apple recently introduced a case search using animation in Latitude. Will Cupertino remake this technology, focusing on sound?

The strap jacks also make you think, because Apple is promoting Fitness + and if the new headphones get the ability to track heart rate, the straps will come in handy. AirPods Pro 2 will be presented in 2022.
