Spotify may add audiobook subscriptions

Audiobooks may be coming to Spotify soon. The company has announced its intention to buy the Findaway platform for an undisclosed price.

The company plans to give users access to the content of audiobooks in one application without forcing users to move to other sites. Deploying this feature can generate additional revenue for the company.

The app’s management says that the acquisition of Findaway will allow more users to create their own audiobooks and make money from it. There may also be individual author subscriptions and Spotify plans for audiobook lovers.

Currently, among Spotify’s competitors, neither Apple Music (let’s not take into account audiobooks uploaded as songs by the authors), nor Deezer, nor YouTube Music offer subscriptions to audiobooks. Such a move can lead to popularization of content and the fact that Apple will also think about the possibility of promoting audiobooks.
