Supercomputer HAL 9000 recreated as a toy

Fans of classic sci-fi films, rejoice! Medicom Toy has created a replica of the HAL 9000 supercomputer that appeared in Stanley Kubrick’s cult film 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The figurine, made of plastic, is very similar to the original computer. On the case there is a round lens with red illumination familiar to all fans of the classics, and a speaker is located in the lower part of the case. The height of the HAL 9000 copy is 35 centimeters. The toy runs on four C batteries.

Medicom Toy promises to start selling copies of the HAL 9000 this May. However, Space Odyssey fans need to start raising money now. A copy of the legendary supercomputer will cost 162,800 yen, or about $1,430. However, if this price is not embarrassing, then the HAL 9000 will be a great table decoration.
